Amazing Sponsored Cycle

Lloyd

This is Paul Harris and his family with Mike, our Food Bank Team Leader.

Paul is an absolute hero.

Paul, and a team of friends, cycled from London to Istanbul with the intention of raising money for our Brighton Food Bank and Prostate Cancer UK.

To celebrate turning 50, Paul decided he wanted to do something big. After chatting with his group of friends, whom he has done challenges with before, they decided to make the epic 16 day, 2000+ mile, cycle to Istanbul.

As you can imagine the cycle wasn’t plain sailing. Although there was always a support team following them through most of the journey, many boarders were crossed, including Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria, that were an eye opener for the team. The boarder officials were very confused when a group of English men in Lycra appeared wanting to cross over! Paul even got chased by a dog at one of the boarders, he joked that he was glad it was fat and gave up the chase very quickly!

The generosity of supporters to their cause was amazing, with their £5,000 target being smashed, and the total is now well over double of that and money is still coming in! Our food bank is going to receive half of the total.

We are so very grateful for this amazing donation, it really helps enable all those in crisis to continue to be fed.

Is there something you could do to help us? We know that you may not be able to do something as big or as dangerous as Paul, but any sponsored event would go a long way to keep us running.
